1. Prize in a limited design competition with 7 participants
As a hospital providing maximal medical care the Klinikum Stuttgart consists of four sites - Bürgerhospital, Katharinenhospital, Krankenhaus Bad Cannstatt and Olgahospital - and belongs to the greatest and highest-performance health centres in Germany.
The brief of the competition comprised the design of the organisational and constructive joining of the centre for internal medicine, the centre for operative medicine and the Neurozentrum at the site in the city-centre of Stuttgart, the Katharinenhospital.
The design features the redevelopment of the entire area, the conversion and modernisation of existing buildings (approx. 40 %), as well as the new construction of other complementing buildings (approx. 60 %). As an entity these form the ZIM/ ZOM/ Neurozentrum.
